KMD was formerly known as Bitcoin Dark (BTCD), a privacy focussed variant of the Bitcoin protocol. The Komodo platform uses an innovation called ‘delayed proof-of-work’ (dPoW) consensus mechanism to secure the network, which recycles Bitcoin’s hash rate to protect its own blockchain. KMD is the native cryptocurrency of the Komodo platform. Komodo is also being considered as one of the supported platforms by our Pantos (PAN) project, which aims to allow cross-chain token transfers between different blockchain protocols.
