Zilliqa is a platform aiming to solve the scaling problem that blockchains experience in terms of transaction processing by using sharding. The project bundles nodes into groups of shards that process portions of transactions, distributing the workload throughout the network. Sharding is a method used for the distribution of one single set of data across multiple bases. The consensus process is sped up in addition to processing speed, while transaction costs are reduced and throughput is increased. The project claims to process more than one million transactions per month as it keeps scaling. ZIL is Zilliqa's native token used for rewarding miners, executing smart contracts and transactions.
