Chainlink’s vision is to act as the secure middleware which connects smart contracts to real-world data in a reliable and trustworthy way. While smart contracts are not able to access resources like data feeds, web APIs or access data on traditional bank accounts on their own, the Chainlink project aims to allow such communication. Chainlink nodes connect the decentralised Chainlink network running on the Ethereum blockchain. Participants in this network are compensated in LINK tokens for keeping Chainlink nodes online and fulfilling requests.
