The Internet Computer (ICP) is a project for extending the functionality of the public internet by curbing monopolisation of internet services through large tech players. The project empowers developers to create internet services, websites and IT systems for enterprises with code installed directly on the public internet instead of using intermediary providers. Collaboration is ensured by sharing user data and functionality among internet services via permanent APIs that cannot be revoked, greatly reducing platform risk. ICP is the native utility token of The Internet Computer for participating in network governance.
