The result was a new blockchain based on Bitcoin, setting its block size limit to eight megabytes to increase the number of transactions its ledger can process. This blockchain and the corresponding cryptocurrency is called Bitcoin Cash (BCH). Supporters of Bitcoin Cash are opting for on-chain scaling solutions such as the mentioned increase in block size, while supporters of Bitcoin (BTC) opt for off-chain-scaling and second layer solutions like the Lightning Network.
