With a focus on revolutionising block creation and facilitating the usage and creation of DApps, the Harmony project utilises random state sharding for block creation within seconds, thus significantly reducing node validation times. The introduction of cross-shard contracts and cross-chain infrastructure is in the pipeline. Harmony uses VRF (Verifiable Random Function) for creating an unpredictable, unbiased, verifiable and immediate randomness to ensure an unbiased validation process. The protocol uses an algorithm by the name of effective Proof of Stake (EPoS) in alignment with the sharding concept. The maximum supply of Harmony (ONE) tokens is 12,600,000,000 tokens that are used for incentivisation, among others.
